Of Bavarian descent, Hubert Maier grew up in Munich, Germany under his Oma’s (grandma) wing where he learned to make truly delicious food from fresh simple ingredients. Over the years he dramatically improved his skills with his love of food and spending time in the kitchen. Hubert completed his Metzgerei trade (meat cutting apprenticeship) at the Metzgerei Ottlinger in Dachau, Germany. There he acquired the skillful art of sausage making, ham curing and meat cutting.
Hubert later continued his passion for cooking by training under a MasterChef in Fürstenfeldbruck and Munich, Germany and went on to spend some time in Brunnen, Switzerland. In the early 90’s Hubert married his wife Susan from British Columbia, Canada. They lived in Germany for three years and in 1995 they moved back to Canada with their baby son Richard. For over 20 years, together they have honed their skills in business and cooking, operating numerous successful restaurants throughout Northern B.C and Alberta.
